VTHC History

Victory Temple Holy Church, Inc. began December 8, 1996. God impressed upon the heart of Pastor Raymond Boney the need for an additional biblical ministry for the people of God. Pastor Boney approached his wife, Co-Pastor Regina Boney, and they began praying towards beginning a new ministry. A meeting was called prior to December 8, 1996 at the home of Pastor Raymond Boney and Co-Pastor Regina Boney for all who were interested in helping to establish this church. Those in attendance were Michael and Cynthia Jones, Minister Eric and Loring Greaux and Annie Fulton. In that meeting, Pastor Boney named the church Victory Temple Holy Church.

In preparation for this first service, Brother Jones consented to have the service in the basement of his home. We had numerous responses and were concerned that the Jones' basement would not accommodate those who would be attending. Consequently, Brother Jones and Pastor Boney called around the city of Durham and finally secured the recreational center at 300 Weaver Street.

At the very first service, the anointing of the Lord fell in a mighty way, setting God's approval on what was being done. During the service, eleven souls joined the church. We were blessed to secure the recreational center on Sundays, but had Wednesday night services at the home of Brother Michael and Cynthia Jones. Throughout the year the Lord increased the membership tremendously. Two choirs were started the very first year. We were also blessed to have a number of Duke University students join our ministry.

In November 1997, Victory Temple Holy Church relocated to 2126 Angier Avenue where we presently reside.

The successes of Victory Temple Holy Church can only be attributed to the faithful leading of our Lord and Savior. We give ALL the glory to God. He has allowed us to be victorious in all that we have attempted to accomplish. Any mistakes that were made were ours. The victories were all HIS. Always remember that it is because of Calvary that we have Victory!
